A stolen SUV found in Pickering has led to multiple charges against a Toronto man after Durham Regional Police allegedly located cocaine inside the vehicle.
Officers responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, after receiving information about a stolen white Genesis SUV in Pickering.
At about the same time, police received reports that the vehicle was being driven dangerously and at high speeds.
Officers located the SUV parked near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road. Police said the driver was seen getting out of the vehicle and was arrested without incident.
A subsequent search allegedly resulted in officers finding a quantity of cocaine.
SUV Allegedly Towed to Nonexistent Repair Business
Police said their investigation determined that the Genesis had previously been towed by a company identified as East Side Towing.
The vehicle was taken to what the owner believed was an auto-repair business called AutoFix in Georgina.
The owner later attended the address and discovered that the repair business did not exist at that location, according to police.
The SUV was subsequently reported stolen.
Police have not released further information about how the towing arrangement was made, whether the alleged repair business had advertised online or whether investigators are seeking additional suspects.
Toronto Man Faces Multiple Charges
Durham police identified the accused as 35-year-old Nithoosan Selvakumar of Toronto.
He has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Obstructing a peace officer
- Possession of a Schedule I substance, identified by police as cocaine
- Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
- Driving while suspended
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
The allegations and charges have not been proven in court.

Investigators are asking anyone with cellphone video, dashcam footage, surveillance recordings or information about the stolen SUV found in Pickering to contact police.
