Durham Regional Police have recovered an additional $130,000 in electronics and merchandise linked to a $2 million theft and fraud investigation at the Amazon Fulfillment Centre in Newmarket.
The investigation began in November 2025 after Amazon Loss Prevention alleged that two employees at the facility on 789 Salem Road were responsible for stealing approximately $2 million in merchandise over a two-year period.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) executed a search warrant at a storage locker in Newmarket, recovering the additional stolen items.
Charges:
- Mehul Baldevbhai Patel, 36, of Newmarket, faces additional charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
- Patel was released on an Undertaking.
