In the latest Durham police news, officers from the East Division issued a $110 fine to a Courtice driver whose vehicle lacked proper mudguards, highlighting road safety concerns for other motorists.
The vehicle was spotted on Courtice Road and Regional Highway 2 on January 30. Police reminded drivers that any tires extending past wheel wells must have mudguards or fender guards to reduce the risk of broken windshields and accidents.
“This fine serves as a reminder to all motorists in Durham Region to follow road safety regulations,” said Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
In addition, the DRPS emphasized that off-road vehicle enthusiasts must have a valid trail permit to use Durham trails such as those in the Ganaraska Forest. Only certain vehicles are permitted, and compliance ensures safe recreation for all residents.
