A Pickering school hold and secure was put in place Tuesday as Durham Regional Police carried out an investigation at a local elementary school.
Police said just before 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 27 that William Dunbar Public School had been placed in hold-and-secure while officers responded to an incident at the location.
Officers remain on scene, though police have not released details about what is being investigated.
“There is no public access to the school,” Durham police said in an update.
The Durham District School Board has not provided additional information regarding the situation. Police have not indicated whether there is any ongoing risk to students or staff.
Hold-and-secure procedures typically mean normal school operations continue inside the building while access from outside is restricted as a precaution.
