The Pickering Glenanna Road closure will shut a section of the street and its west sidewalk for two weeks while Durham Region completes sanitary sewer and watermain work.
The City of Pickering says Glenanna Road will be closed from Pickering Parkway to the south limit of The Esplanade South from Tuesday, October 13 through Monday, October 26. Vehicle and pedestrian detours will be marked with signs.
Eight Durham Region Transit routes will detour
Durham Region Transit says Routes 112, 118, 121, 211, 900B, 916, 917 and 920B will be affected for the full closure period.
Westbound trips on PULSE 900B, PULSE 916 and Route 920B will use Valley Farm Road and Pickering Parkway. Routes 112, 118, 121, 211 and 917 will detour by way of Kingston Road, Valley Farm Road and Pickering Parkway.
All stops along the detour route will be served, but two regular stops will be temporarily unavailable. Stop 1607 at Kingston Road westbound at Valley Farm Road will not be served by the affected PULSE and 920B trips. Stop 1915 on Glenanna Road southbound at The Esplanade South will not be served by any of the listed routes.
Temporary stop planned on Valley Farm Road
DRT will provide a temporary southbound stop on Valley Farm Road approximately 100 metres south of Kingston Road. Riders should allow extra time and check for posted stop notices before travelling.
The road and sidewalk closure is required so crews can install regional sanitary sewer and watermain infrastructure. The city says both pedestrian and vehicle routes will be redirected around the work area.
The Pickering Glenanna Road closure is scheduled to end October 26. Construction timing and transit arrangements can change, so travellers should review the latest municipal and DRT notices.
