The latest Pickering clean audit marks the city’s tenth consecutive year of receiving that result, according to an October 23 announcement from the municipality.
The City of Pickering says Deloitte conducted the independent review of its 2025 consolidated financial statements. The announcement presents the result as a milestone in municipal financial reporting and oversight.
City links result to financial accountability
In its official social-media statement, the city says the audit provides independent assurance that its finances are reported accurately and in accordance with established accounting standards.
Pickering credits the milestone to ongoing financial planning, oversight and internal controls. It links the work to its Corporate Strategic Plan commitments to good governance, transparency and stewardship of public funds.
The city also describes its financial position as a foundation for planning future services and infrastructure as the community grows. Those descriptions are attributed to the municipality’s announcement.
2025 statements are the subject of the announcement
The Pickering clean audit announcement concerns the consolidated statements for the 2025 financial year, rather than a new 2026 budget or property-tax decision. It does not set a new tax rate, announce a service expansion or provide a new project allocation.
The public statement does not reproduce the full auditor’s report or provide detailed financial tables. This report therefore does not infer a surplus, reserve balance, debt figure or future tax change from the clean-audit result.
Daily Durham separately reported the October 23 announcement, identifying the same municipal statement and the Deloitte review.
