A pedestrian collision in Ajax has resulted in a fatality after a 57-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries, Durham Regional Police say.
Police report that the collision occurred on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at approximately 11:05 a.m., at the intersection of Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue. Officers from West Division responded to the scene after a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the roadway on the west side of the intersection.
The woman was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where she later died as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated fully with police. The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators collected evidence.
Durham police say the collision remains under investigation and are asking anyone with cell phone footage, dash cam video, surveillance recordings, or additional information to come forward.
