The Oshawa weather forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud on Monday, September 14, with a daytime high of 20 C.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued the forecast at 5 a.m. EDT. The federal weather service also lists a UV index of 6, rated high, for the Oshawa area.

Clear conditions expected Monday night

Monday night is forecast to remain clear, with the temperature falling to 12 C. Residents heading out early Tuesday should expect a cool start before temperatures rise during the day.

The federal forecast is consistent with the day’s local outlook published by DurhamRegion.com, which described Monday as a mix of sun and cloud.

Showers and stronger winds possible Tuesday

Conditions are expected to become less settled Tuesday. Environment Canada forecasts a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon.

South winds are expected to strengthen to 30 km/h, with gusts up to 50 km/h, during the morning. Tuesday’s high is forecast at 24 C, with a humidex value of 26 and another high UV index of 6.

The chance of showers remains at 60 per cent Tuesday night, when the temperature is expected to fall to 18 C. Wednesday is forecast to return to a mix of sun and cloud with a high near 25 C.

Planning for Monday outdoors

People spending extended time outside should take normal sun precautions during the high-UV period, including seeking shade, using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing. The forecast does not indicate rain for Monday, but conditions can change, especially ahead of Tuesday’s expected wind and shower risk.

Drivers and commuters should check the latest conditions before travelling. Weather observations and forecasts are updated throughout the day as new data becomes available.
