Oshawa postcards to Ukrainian defenders will be the focus of two upcoming community events aimed at supporting Ukrainian soldiers as the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion approaches.
The initiative is being organized by Postcards to the Front (Canada), which encourages people to send handwritten messages of encouragement to Ukrainian defenders.
Both events are free and open to all ages, with supplies provided.
The first event will take place on February 8 at the Oshawa Museum in Lakeview Park, running from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Organizers say participants are welcome to bring their own blank postcards if they wish.
A second postcard-writing event will be held on February 22 at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, located at 597 Albert Street in Oshawa. The event begins at 1 p.m., following a weekly rally on the Albert Street bridge scheduled from noon to 1 p.m.
Organizers say the goal is to help lift the spirits of Ukrainian defenders by reminding them they are supported by communities abroad.
