Lacrosse Canada has named a 12-player women’s roster for the international tournament, including Peterborough’s Erica Evans. The event will use the fast-paced sixes format that is part of the qualification pathway toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Team Canada names 12-player women’s roster
Evans returns to the Canadian team after winning silver at the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo. She recorded 17 points in six games during that tournament, according to PtboCanada.
The Oshawa roster also includes Maddy Baxter and Nicole Perroni, who played with the Women’s Major Series Lacrosse Lakers team that won its first provincial championship this summer. Their selection gives the event an additional connection to lacrosse communities east of Toronto.
Sixes lacrosse is played with six athletes per side, including the goalkeeper, on a smaller field than the traditional outdoor game. The format uses a shorter shot clock and frequent substitutions, producing a faster game designed for compact tournament schedules.
