An Oshawa man charged after Durham police seized prohibited conducted energy weapons during a search warrant execution earlier this week.
According to the Durham Regional Police Service, investigators from the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch concluded an investigation on Wednesday, January 28, into a male believed to have imported banned conducted energy weapons, commonly known as tasers, into Canada.
With assistance from the East Division Crime Team and the Central East Division Community Response Unit, officers executed a search warrant at a residence near Ritson Road South and Olive Avenue in Oshawa.
Police said the suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident. During the search, officers seized two prohibited tasers disguised as flashlights.
The suspect, a 49-year-old Oshawa man, was later released on an undertaking. His name and further court details are available through www.drps.ca.
