The Jan. 27 weather in Durham is expected to bring blowing snow, bitter cold, and dangerous wind chills as another winter system moves through southern Ontario.
Environment Canada says Tuesday will begin cloudy with a chance of flurries across Durham Region, including Oshawa, as well as Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, and Niagara Falls.
Local blowing snow is expected throughout the Greater Toronto Area, with daytime highs reaching about -8 C. However, wind chills will make it feel closer to -26 C in the morning and -17 C in the afternoon.
A cold weather warning has been issued, with Environment Canada noting wind chills could reach -30 C, particularly in Niagara Falls, creating a risk of frostbite with prolonged outdoor exposure.
Tuesday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around -15 C, and wind chills making it feel closer to -23 C in some areas.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, the forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of flurries during the day. Evening hours may bring additional snow, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries and a daytime high near -10 C.
Residents are advised to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and exercise caution when travelling during periods of blowing snow and extreme cold.
