A new transportation option has arrived in Durham Region as Hopp ride hailing Durham officially launches its services across Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering.
Hopp, one of Canada’s fastest-growing ride-hailing platforms, has travelled more than 72 million kilometres in less than a year. Following its initial launch in Toronto, the company is expanding into 11 additional cities across the Greater Toronto Area, including several Durham communities.
The expansion of Hopp ride hailing Durham aims to improve daily transportation access for residents navigating work schedules, social plans and regional travel needs. The mobile app is available for download on both Apple and Google Play stores.
Hopp offers a range of safety-focused features, including in-app reporting for unsafe driving behaviour, four-digit trip pickup codes, real-time location sharing and trusted contacts for riders and drivers.
“This expansion is about strengthening transportation choice across the GTA,” said David Riggs, General Manager of Hopp. “It means more reliable options for residents and a more open, competitive landscape for drivers.”
According to the company, the Durham launch marks a key milestone in regional growth, creating new earning opportunities for drivers while expanding shared mobility options in both urban and suburban communities.
Hopp operates under Bolt, a global shared mobility platform with services in over 50 countries and 600 cities. Bolt provides ride-hailing, scooter and e-bike rentals, car rentals and delivery services to more than 200 million lifetime customers worldwide.
To further support rider confidence, the company is investing over $150 million globally during the next three years to advance safety innovation and make ride-hailing a safer transportation option.
