The City of Oshawa has received development applications for a proposed five-storey apartment building on King Street East.
According to the city, the applicant plans to redevelop the property at 954 King Street East with a five-storey residential building containing 32 apartment units. The applications were submitted by 11373846 Canada Corp. and have been deemed complete.
To move the project forward, the applications seek to:
- Amend the Oshawa Official Plan by introducing a site-specific policy allowing a maximum residential density of 232 units per net hectare; and
- Amend Zoning By-law 60-94 by rezoning the property from R1-C (Residential) to a site-specific R6-C (Residential) zone. This change would permit an apartment building and include site-specific performance standards, such as increased density and lot coverage, along with reduced parking requirements, yard setbacks, and landscaped open space.
The city has announced that a Planning Act public meeting will be held to consider the proposed amendments.
The meeting is scheduled for January 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Oshawa City Hall, located at 50 Centre Street South.
