The Feb 1 southern Ontario weather forecast calls for bright sunshine across much of the region, but winter’s grip remains firm as wind chill values plunge close to -29 C in some areas.
In Durham Region, including Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, and Clarington, sunny skies are expected throughout the day. Temperatures will reach a daytime high near -9 C, while morning wind chills hover around -27 C before improving to approximately -14 C in the afternoon as winds increase to 20 km/h.
Across the Greater Toronto Area, similar conditions are expected. Mississauga, Brampton and Halton will see sunshine with highs near -8 C, while Hamilton is forecast to reach -7 C. Morning wind chills across southern Ontario will range from -26 C to -29 C, with a risk of frostbite during the coldest periods.
Clear skies will continue into the evening, with temperatures dropping sharply overnight. In Durham Region, temperatures are expected to fall to -19 C, with wind chills dipping to -23 C overnight.
Residents are advised to dress in warm layers, limit prolonged outdoor exposure, and take precautions during early morning and overnight hours due to extreme cold.
