The Easton Community Park reopening is scheduled for October 31, giving Oshawa residents a confirmed return date after the park’s major redevelopment.
The City of Oshawa announced the date on October 23 and invited the community to a celebration from 10 a.m. to noon. The park, also known locally as Rainbow Park, is at 900 Adelaide Avenue East.
New play and recreation features
The city lists junior and senior playgrounds among the new amenities, including what it describes as Oshawa’s first wheelchair-accessible swing. The redevelopment also includes a splash pad and a full-size multi-use sport court for basketball and ball hockey.
Seating areas, shade structures, a walking loop and pathways provide places to gather and move through the park. Parking has been upgraded, including accessible spaces, and the project includes native tree planting and open green space.
The announcement also identifies improved accessibility and safety features throughout the site. It does not state that every seasonal amenity, including the splash pad, will be operating during the October 31 celebration.
Community celebration planned
City staff will be on hand with information tables, recreation activities, Halloween treats and fall-themed activities. The city directs residents to its Easton Park webpage for full event details and updates, including severe-weather changes.
According to the municipality, feedback gathered during public engagement helped shape the design and its focus on creative, inclusive recreation for people of different ages and abilities.
The Easton Community Park reopening is a substantial follow-up to earlier coverage of the construction-stage project. The earlier report described the park as closed with completion expected in fall 2026; the city has now set a specific reopening and community-celebration date.
