Durham Region Black History Month 2026 celebrations honour the voices, resilience, and achievements of Black Canadians whose leadership has shaped the past and inspires the future.
This year marks 30 years of celebrating Black History Month in Canada, a time to reflect on systemic barriers while fostering meaningful change and equity.
In partnership with Durham Regional Police Services, local municipalities, and community partners, the Region will host the annual event: “Together We Rise Durham: Legacy ignites the path for youth to lead the future.” This theme celebrates the legacy of past leaders while empowering youth to drive positive change.
Residents are invited to join on February 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Milestone Christian Centre, 610 Monarch Avenue, Ajax, for an inspiring evening featuring the Legacy Café, where youth and elders come together to share stories, learn from one another, and celebrate Durham Region Black History Month.
This celebration is part of ongoing efforts in Durham Region Black History Month initiatives to create communities where diversity is valued and all voices are heard.
