Durham Region is inviting private and public sector partners to apply for the Durham affordable rental funding under the At Home Incentive Program (AHIP). This year, $8 million in Durham affordable rental funding is available to support new affordable rental housing initiatives.
Projects eligible for this funding must provide at least five affordable units and may include new construction, conversion of non-residential buildings, expansion of existing sites, or redevelopment to increase the supply of affordable rental units.
More than 1,000 people were on Durham Region’s By-Name List as of last August, highlighting the demand for affordable housing.
This is the fourth Call for Applications for AHIP. In previous years, Regional Council approved $30.5 million in Durham affordable rental funding, resulting in 350 new affordable rental units across Ajax, Clarington, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge, and Whitby.
Interested organizations can apply by April 2. For more details, visit durham.ca/AHIP.
