Southern Ontario is bracing for snow squalls, flurries and gusty winds on Wednesday, December 31, according to Environment Canada.
Morning conditions across Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton may include intermittent flurries and snow squalls, while Hamilton and Niagara Falls are expected to see a 60 per cent chance of flurries throughout the day.
Snowfall amounts are forecast to remain light, with total accumulations between 2 and 4 centimetres, but blowing snow could reduce visibility at times.
Winds from the southwest will average around 20 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h in some areas, making conditions feel significantly colder.
In Mississauga, daytime highs will reach –3°C, though wind chill values will make it feel closer to –13°C in the morning and –8°C in the afternoon.
Flurries may continue into the evening in some areas, particularly Mississauga, before tapering off overnight. Temperatures are expected to drop to –14°C, with wind chills making it feel as cold as –20°C.
Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use caution, as localized snow squalls and gusty winds may create rapidly changing conditions.
