Residents across Southern Ontario can expect a mostly cloudy Christmas Day, with snowfall holding off despite lingering snow from earlier in the week.
According to Environment Canada, areas including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa, Burlington, and Niagara will experience similar weather conditions throughout Dec. 25. While snow on the ground may give the appearance of a white Christmas, no new snowfall is expected during the day.
The morning will begin under cloudy skies, but conditions are expected to gradually improve as the day goes on. Some sunshine may break through later in the day, making Christmas afternoon brighter despite the cold.
Those planning outdoor activities are advised to head out earlier in the day. Morning temperatures are expected to sit between 1°C and 2°C before dropping in the afternoon. Wind chill values will make it feel closer to -10°C by late afternoon.
Temperatures will continue to fall into the evening, reaching around -8°C by nightfall and dropping further to approximately -12°C after midnight. Overnight wind chills could make it feel as cold as -21°C.
Looking ahead to Boxing Day, conditions are expected to change. Scattered flurries may begin Friday morning, with periods of heavier snow possible later in the day. Further updates are expected as the system develops.
