Applications are open for 31 Clarington committees and board vacancies across five municipal advisory and decision-making bodies, with submissions due October 8.
The appointments run until December 31, 2030. The Municipality of Clarington says some positions are volunteer roles while others are paid, and residents should review the requirements for each body before applying.
Five boards and committees are recruiting
The Accessibility Advisory Committee has eight openings. Its members advise the municipality on strategies and initiatives intended to support a barrier-free Clarington for people with disabilities.
The Committee of Adjustment has seven vacancies. This quasi-judicial body operates under Ontario’s Planning Act and makes decisions on matters such as applications for minor variances from the zoning bylaw.
Six positions are available on the Property Standards Committee, which hears matters connected with municipal property-maintenance standards.
The Public Library Board is seeking eight members. The board establishes policies and oversees the operation and programming of Clarington Libraries, Museums and Archives.
Two livestock valuer positions are also open. Livestock valuers investigate eligible claims involving damage to livestock caused by wildlife.
Appointments last through 2030
Municipal committees and boards allow residents to contribute subject knowledge, professional experience and community perspectives to local decisions. Their roles differ: some provide advice to council, while others carry statutory or adjudicative responsibilities.
Clarington generally appoints committee members for the same four-year period as council. The municipality may also accept applications throughout a term when occasional vacancies arise.
Council will select qualified applicants based on the submitted forms, and the municipality says all applicants will be notified of the final decision.

Prospective applicants should confirm eligibility, expected meeting schedules and whether a role is paid or voluntary before submitting an application.
