Book lovers in Durham Region will have the chance to enjoy a literary gathering during the Book Drunkard Festival Brunch taking place in Uxbridge on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The special brunch event will bring together readers and authors for a morning of conversation, storytelling and community.
The event will be held at Wooden Sticks Golf Club, located at 40 Elgin Park Drive in Goodwood, Uxbridge, beginning at 11 a.m. Guests attending the brunch will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while participating in a discussion featuring Canadian author Kerry Clare, who will be interviewed by fellow author Bianca Marais.
The event will highlight Clare’s newest novel, “Definitely Thriving.” The book explores themes of friendship, community and personal growth. Set against the backdrop of everyday life and small community gatherings, the story celebrates imperfect characters navigating challenges with the help of the people around them.
According to event organizers, the novel focuses on the importance of connection and support systems, offering readers a thoughtful and often humorous look at the realities of building independence while relying on community.
During the brunch event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the author about the inspiration behind the book, the writing process and the themes explored in the novel. The conversation between Clare and Marais is expected to offer insight into storytelling, publishing and the creative journey behind bringing a book to life.
The Book Drunkard Festival Brunch is designed to bring together readers, writers and members of the community who share a love for literature. Events like this help promote local arts and culture while providing a welcoming space for book discussions and author engagement.
Tickets for the event are priced at $65, and the program is scheduled to run throughout the day, allowing guests to enjoy both the literary discussion and the brunch experience at the venue.
Wooden Sticks Golf Club, known for hosting community events and gatherings in the Uxbridge area, will serve as the venue for the festival brunch.
Residents of Uxbridge and other parts of Durham Region are encouraged to attend if they enjoy reading, meeting authors or participating in local cultural events.
