New OLG casino payments are bringing another quarterly share of gaming revenue to Ajax and the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.
OLG announced its second-quarter payments on October 21. The quarter covers July 1 to September 30 of the corporation’s 2026–27 fiscal year, rather than the April-to-June period covered in earlier local reporting.
Local amounts reported
Durham Radio News reported on October 22 that Ajax received $738,163 for the quarter. The report puts the town’s payments so far this fiscal year at $1,728,712.
For the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the radio report lists a quarterly payment of $920,930 and a fiscal-year-to-date total of $1,613,889.
Those local amounts are attributed to Durham Radio News. OLG’s accessible provincewide release confirms the quarterly payment programme and its overall totals, but does not itemize those two local figures.
Provincewide payments exceed $34.5 million
OLG says the second-quarter distribution totals $34,505,783 across 29 casino-host communities. Payments to those communities so far in the fiscal year total $76,920,529.
The corporation’s fiscal year runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The year-to-date figures therefore cover the first two fiscal quarters, not the full calendar year.
According to OLG, host-community contributions are calculated through agreements using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at each casino. The corporation says the same formula is applied consistently across Ontario’s land-based sites.
Revenue is separate from a new spending decision
These OLG casino payments are revenue announcements, not confirmation that either recipient has approved a specific new project or service. The accessible sources do not identify a new allocation for the money.
The new quarterly figures are distinct from the first-quarter casino-host payments previously reported by All About Durham. Residents seeking details of local spending decisions should consult the recipient’s published financial and council information.
