An Ajax pedestrian collision sent a 21-year-old woman to hospital with minor injuries Friday morning and led to a careless driving charge against the driver, Durham Regional Police say.
Police place the collision at approximately 7:05 a.m. on October 23 at the intersection of Taunton Road West and Westney Road North.
Pedestrian taken to local hospital
According to the police release, the pedestrian was crossing Taunton Road West in a westbound direction when she was struck by a red Toyota sedan. Investigators say the vehicle was turning left from Taunton Road West onto Westney Road North.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital. The release describes her injuries as minor and does not provide further medical information.
Police say the driver, a 62-year-old woman, has since been charged with careless driving. The release does not name either woman. A charge is an allegation, not a finding of guilt.
Witnesses and footage sought
West Division officers attended the scene, and police say their investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the Ajax pedestrian collision or has relevant video or dash-camera footage is asked to contact PC Sriskandakumaran at 1-888-579-1520, extension 1901.
This is a separate incident from the October 17 fail-to-remain collision at Harwood Avenue North and Ringer Road that later resulted in a pedestrian’s death. The October 23 release concerns the Taunton–Westney intersection.
