Potassium iodide pills Pickering Darlington residents rely on are being replaced as older supplies distributed in 2015 approach their 2027 expiry date. Ontario Power Generation, along with the Durham Region Health Department and Toronto Emergency Management, is providing new KI pills to households living near the Pickering and Darlington nuclear generating stations to help protect against thyroid risks in the unlikely event of a nuclear emergency.
