Durham highway closures are scheduled to impact several major routes across the region on January 26, 2026, as the province carries out planned roadwork and maintenance.
Motorists travelling through Oshawa, Ajax, and Whitby are advised to plan ahead, as multiple lane restrictions and short-term closures will affect Highway 401 and Highway 407 ETR at various times throughout the week.
In Oshawa, Highway 401 eastbound between Ritson Road and Harmony Road will experience several overnight lane closures, including alternating lane reductions and brief OPP-assisted full closures lasting up to 15 minutes on January 27 and 28.
In Ajax, a right-lane closure is scheduled on Highway 401 eastbound between Church Street and Church Street, beginning late on January 26 and continuing through the early morning hours of January 30.
Drivers in Whitby should expect lane restrictions on the Highway 407 ETR westbound off-ramp at Highway 412, where one right lane will be closed for roadwork from January 25 through January 30.
Officials note that these Durham highway closures are subject to change due to weather or operational needs. Drivers are encouraged to monitor conditions and allow extra travel time when navigating affected routes.
