The Oshawa Generals lost 7-6 in overtime to the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday, November 1, after a late third-period lead disappeared at the Tribute Communities Centre.
Filip Ekberg delivered the deciding goal just 30 seconds into the extra period, according to the Generals’ official recap and Daily Durham’s report.
Late advantage disappears
Oshawa had moved ahead 6-4 in the third period. Ottawa recovered to force overtime, with Ruml scoring the equalizer with 1:59 remaining in regulation, Daily Durham reported.
The finish left the Generals with one point rather than the two that had been within reach late in the game. It also brought a disappointing end to a night in which Oshawa fought back from an early deficit.
Special teams shape the result
The team’s recap identified penalties and penalty killing as important factors in the loss. Oshawa’s own power play was more productive, scoring twice in three opportunities, but that improvement was not enough to secure the victory.
The Generals are scheduled to visit Kingston on Friday. Their next home game is November 8 against the Brantford Bulldogs.
