Whitby Ajax highway work will bring additional lane and ramp restrictions on Highways 412 and 407 later this week, according to Ontario 511 maintenance records updated October 26.
The entries include work beginning Wednesday, October 28, and separate restrictions beginning Thursday, October 29. Some affect an entire ramp, while others close only a specified highway lane.
Whitby restrictions beginning October 28
Ontario 511 lists one alternating lane closed for nightly maintenance on Highway 412 southbound at Dundas Street West. The overall work period begins at 10 p.m. October 28 and ends at 5 a.m. October 31.
A separate nightly moving-maintenance entry closes all lanes of the Highway 407 ETR westbound on-ramp at Highway 412 over the same 10 p.m. October 28 to 5 a.m. October 31 period.
Two further ramp entries begin at 11 p.m. October 28 and run through 5 a.m. October 31:
- The Highway 412 northbound off-ramp at Highway 407 is listed with all ramp lanes closed for nightly maintenance.
- The Highway 407 ETR eastbound on-ramp at Lake Ridge Road is listed with all ramp lanes closed for nightly maintenance.
Those are ramp restrictions, not announcements that every lane of the adjoining highways will close. The nightly classification describes recurring work within the listed period, rather than an uninterrupted multi-day shutdown.
Separate October 29-30 lane work
On Highway 412 southbound between Highway 407 and Highway 7 in Whitby, one left lane is listed for maintenance from 10 p.m. October 29 until 6 a.m. October 30.
Northbound Highway 412 has a separate continuous-maintenance entry affecting one right lane between Dundas Street West and the railway bridge or overpass. Its listed hours are also 10 p.m. October 29 to 6 a.m. October 30.
In Ajax, one right lane of Highway 407 ETR westbound between Westney Road North and Sideline 14 is listed for continuous maintenance during that same overnight window.

The seven provincial entries were updated between 8:37 a.m. and 10:02 a.m. on October 26 and checked against the live roadwork table on October 27. They add different locations and dates from the previously reported Highway 401 work in Oshawa and Clarington.
