Durham Region Transit has placed Route 502 on detour in Bowmanville due to construction on Liberty Street between Longworth Avenue and Concession Road 3. The detour runs from Wednesday, October 21 until Tuesday, December 1, 2026, according to the transit agency’s service alert.
Westbound buses are detouring via Mearns Avenue, Freeland Avenue and Liberty Street, while eastbound buses are detouring via Middle Road/Scugog Street, Bons Avenue, Freeland Avenue and Mearns Avenue.
Eight stops are not being served during the closure: Longworth westbound and eastbound at Rickaby (#3251, #94141), Longworth westbound and eastbound at Swindells (#3154, #94140), Longworth eastbound and westbound at Liberty (#94139, #3173), Liberty northbound at Freeland (#3155), and Liberty southbound at Bons (#94138).
Temporary stops are available on Mearns Avenue at Longworth, on Freeland Avenue at Rickaby and Swindells, and on Bons Avenue at Liberty.
