Drivers should expect an extensive list of Durham highway closures as provincial roadwork continues across the region, including short overnight stoppages and lane restrictions on Highway 401.
A September 26 provincial-road summary listed 50 scheduled closures affecting Highway 401, Highway 407 ETR, Highway 412, Highway 7, Highway 7/12, Highway 7A, Highway 12 and Highway 35/115. Many are overnight or alternating-lane restrictions, while several continue into October.
Immediate Highway 401 restrictions
- Two westbound lanes between Harmony Road and Ritson Road in Oshawa are scheduled to close nightly from September 27 at 8 p.m. to October 2 at 5 a.m.
- Eastbound traffic between Liverpool Road and Brock Road in Pickering may face a 15-minute OPP-assisted full closure late at night from September 26 through September 28.
- Westbound traffic between Westney Road in Ajax and Brock Road in Pickering may also face a 15-minute OPP-assisted full closure during the same period.
- One eastbound lane between Brock Road and Harwood Avenue is scheduled to close nightly through October 7.
- Alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures continue along several Highway 401 sections through September 30 or October 1.

Work is also scheduled on Highway 407 ramps near Baldwin Street and Lake Ridge Road in Whitby, Highway 35/115 in Clarington, Highway 7 in Pickering and Highway 7/12 in Brock and Scugog.
