The South Oshawa pool reopening is set for Wednesday, September 16, after extensive reconstruction and essential repairs at the South Oshawa Community Centre.
The confirmed reopening is a major development after repeated delays kept the pool closed for almost two years.
Free appreciation-day swims
The City of Oshawa is holding a welcome-back appreciation day on Saturday, September 19. Free leisure swims run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m., first come, first served and subject to capacity.
Council has also approved free leisure swimming for Oshawa residents for the rest of 2026. Participants need government-issued identification showing an Oshawa address.
Aquatic programs return
Swimming lessons and other aquatic programs begin the week of October 13. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29.
The project included broad structural and building-system repairs after foundation, drainage and other problems were identified. Earlier reports provided tentative timelines while work remained incomplete.
Schedules can change, so visitors should check the city’s swimming page before arriving.
