Oshawa’s Giant Fall Book Sale will fill the McLaughlin Branch auditorium with thousands of new and gently used books from September 17 to 19.
The Friends of the Oshawa Public Library event will offer books for readers of all ages while raising money for special library initiatives.
Oshawa book sale dates and hours
The three-day sale will be held at the McLaughlin Branch, 65 Debwewin Miikan, in downtown Oshawa. Hours are:
- Thursday, September 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, September 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday, September 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cash, debit and credit cards will be accepted. The Friends group says the opening day is usually the busiest and an outdoor line may form near the auditorium entrance, so visitors should dress for the weather and allow time for parking.
Ramp access to the sale is available on the west side of the building from Queen Street. Visitors can also reach the auditorium through the library’s children’s department, although that route includes several steps.
Sale supports Oshawa library programs
The Friends of the Oshawa Public Library is a volunteer organization that supports library services through fundraising, advocacy and community involvement. It normally holds two used-book sales each year at the McLaughlin Branch.
People who cannot attend the September sale can still browse used books and magazines sold at Oshawa’s four library branches. The organization also accepts gently used book donations at the McLaughlin Branch shipping and receiving entrance during regular business hours.
Proceeds from the fall sale are directed to library initiatives rather than a commercial bookseller. Shoppers can confirm any last-minute event or accessibility updates through Oshawa Public Libraries before travelling.
