Bowmanville Community Complex will welcome residents for a public open house on Saturday, October 3, offering the first broad look inside Clarington’s largest new sports and recreation destination.
The free event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at 1 West Side Drive in Bowmanville. Visitors should enter the new parking area from Green Road.

The Bowmanville Community Complex open house will include access to the new FIFA-sized multi-sport dome and indoor walking track. Clarington says families can learn about the facility’s planned amenities, register for fall programs and take part in interactive activities and giveaways.
The complex was previously known during planning and construction as the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre. Its new name reflects the broader community role expected for the expanded facility.
The dome and walking track will open to the public on October 3, while regular programming and facility rentals are scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 13. Programs for the gymnasium and multi-purpose rooms will be announced as finishing work on those spaces is completed.
More facilities will open in phases
Not every part of the site will be ready on open-house day. Clarington says an outdoor refrigerated skating trail will open later. The municipality describes it as one of Ontario’s longest skating trails and the first facility of its kind in Durham Region.
The aquatics centre, additional multi-purpose rooms and the reopened outdoor lacrosse bowl are expected in 2027. The phased schedule means residents attending in October will see the first completed major components while construction continues elsewhere on the property.
