Uxbridge Civic Holiday closures will affect municipal facilities, libraries, alcohol retailers, waste collection and public transportation on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Residents planning errands, recreation or travel during the long weekend should review operating hours and transit schedules before leaving home.
Many privately operated retailers and restaurants may remain open, but individual businesses can choose their own holiday schedules.
Municipal Buildings and Recreation Facilities
Township of Uxbridge municipal buildings will be closed for the Civic Holiday.
Local recreation facilities, including the Uxbridge Arena and Community Centre, will also be closed. Scheduled municipal recreation programs will not operate during the holiday.
The Uxbridge Public Library and other municipal library services are expected to be closed Monday, with regular operating schedules resuming after the holiday.
Residents should complete urgent municipal business online where possible or wait until offices reopen on Tuesday, August 4.
The Region of Durham’s Ontario Works office in Uxbridge will also be closed. Regional Health Department services and water-sample drop-off and pickup services at the Township of Uxbridge Municipal Office will be unavailable.
LCBO and Beer Store Closures
The LCBO location at 2B Welwood Drive will be closed on Monday.
The Beer Store in Uxbridge is also expected to be closed for the Civic Holiday.
Residents should purchase alcohol before the holiday or confirm whether another authorized retailer is operating nearby. Grocery, convenience and privately operated retail hours can vary.
Waste Collection Changes
Garbage, recycling, green-bin and yard-waste collection may be moved forward by one day because of the holiday.
Residents should confirm their collection date through Durham Region’s online waste calendar or mobile application using their home address.
Containers should be placed at the curb according to the adjusted schedule and local collection requirements.
Durham Region Transit Schedule
Durham Region Transit will operate using its weekend service schedule on August 3.
The DRT Customer Service Desk and Customer Service Call Centre will be closed.
On Demand service can still be booked through the DRT On Demand mobile application. The On Demand Call Centre will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Passengers should check their route before travelling because weekend frequencies and operating hours may differ from regular weekday service.
GO Transit Runs Saturday Schedule
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule for the Civic Holiday.
Passengers travelling between Uxbridge, Durham Region and other Greater Toronto Area destinations should use the GO Transit trip planner to confirm departure times.
Some routes do not operate on weekends, meaning regular Monday trips may not be available.
Most municipal and regional services affected by the Uxbridge Civic Holiday closures are expected to resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, August 4.
