Durham Regional Police are still searching for a male suspect more than a month after a break-and-enter at a home under construction in Pickering.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Monday, April 27, when the unidentified man allegedly broke into a residential property that was still being built. Police say the suspect stole various items from the construction site before fleeing the scene in an older model red Dodge sedan.

Despite the passage of several weeks, investigators have not yet been able to identify or locate the individual. Police are now turning to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect and bringing him into custody.

Break-and-enters at construction sites have become an increasing concern across Durham Region, with thieves targeting tools, appliances, and building materials that are often left on-site during the building process. These thefts can cause significant financial losses for builders and delays for homebuyers waiting for their properties to be completed.

Durham Police are urging residents in the Pickering area to review any home security footage or dash camera recordings from the afternoon of April 27 that may have captured the suspect or the red Dodge sedan described in the investigation.

Anyone with cell phone footage, dash camera video, surveillance recordings, or any information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Constable Murray of the West Division Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520, extension 1905.

Anonymous information can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.

Police are reminding construction companies and homeowners undertaking renovations to secure their properties and consider installing temporary security cameras to deter theft during the building process.
