One of Durham Region’s most cherished and long-running community celebrations is returning this weekend as the Bowmanville Maplefest festival 2026 marks its thirty-sixth consecutive year of bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the sweet and much-anticipated start of spring in the Municipality of Clarington. The beloved annual tradition will take over four entire city blocks in historic downtown Bowmanville, transforming the charming downtown core into a vibrant and bustling pedestrian-only zone filled with the irresistible aromas, flavours, and community spirit of all things maple.
The free community festival will run on Saturday, May 2, from 9:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening, with King Street closed to vehicle traffic from Friday, May 1, at 6:00 in the evening through Saturday, May 2, at approximately 7:00 in the evening to accommodate the extensive festival setup, planned outdoor activities, and the anticipated large crowds of enthusiastic visitors from across Durham Region and beyond. The street closure will extend from Scugog Street to George Street, with parts of Division and Temperance Streets also closed off to motorists during the popular event. Detours will be clearly posted via alternate local roads throughout the duration of the May 2 celebration.
The Bowmanville Maplefest festival 2026 will proudly showcase the very best of Durham Region’s thriving and productive maple syrup industry, giving attendees the unique and wonderful opportunity to connect directly with passionate local maple syrup producers and sample an incredible variety of creative maple-inspired culinary delights. Visitors can look forward to indulging in freshly made maple doughnuts, creamy maple fudge, artisanal maple cheese, maple-flavoured candy and nuts, and many more delicious and inventive treats from talented food vendors and dedicated producers from across the region.
According to the Historic Downtown Bowmanville BIA, an impressive lineup of over two hundred and fifty vendors is expected to participate in this year’s Bowmanville Maplefest festival 2026, making it one of the largest and most exciting editions of the beloved event in its distinguished thirty-six-year history. The extensive vendor village will feature a diverse and exciting mix of skilled craft artisans, gourmet food trucks, live musicians performing throughout the day on outdoor stages, and numerous community organizations proudly showcasing their programs and services to attendees.
Families with young children will find plenty to see and enjoy at the festival, with a wide range of engaging kid-friendly activities and entertainment planned throughout the entire day. The dedicated Clarington Firefighters will have an engaging and interactive booth at the event where youngsters can meet and take memorable pictures with beloved fire safety mascots Beepa and Sparky, while also providing valuable information to parents about important new carbon monoxide alarm safety rules that affect all homeowners and tenants in Ontario.
Parking in downtown Bowmanville lots is completely free for all festival attendees, and a convenient complimentary shuttle service will be running regularly throughout the day departing from the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, where parking is also completely free of charge. Accessible parking spaces are readily available in municipal lots and on Church Street for visitors who require them to attend the Bowmanville Maplefest festival 2026.
