Durham police are asking for help identifying a suspect believed to be connected to Whitby restaurant break-ins.
The latest reported incident happened at Los Cabos restaurant in Whitby on September 28. Police said a suspect entered the business and stole an amount of currency.
Investigators have reviewed several similar break-and-enters at Whitby restaurants in 2025 and believe the same person may be responsible for the earlier cases and the September incident.
Surveillance images released
Durham Regional Police Service published surveillance images with its October 7 notice. The release does not provide the restaurant’s street address, an exact time for the September break-in or the amount of money reported stolen.
No arrest or charge was announced. A person shown in surveillance material is a suspect only, and the allegations have not been tested in court.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information can contact the West Division Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520, extension 1960. Anonymous information can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Businesses with relevant video or transaction records should preserve the original files and provide them directly to investigators instead of posting unverified identifications publicly.
