The Township of Uxbridge has reached a significant milestone in its efforts to revitalize the local core, announcing that council has officially approved a conditional land sale agreement for several key downtown properties. This decision, finalized during a council meeting yesterday, focuses on the strategic Lower Brock area. This downtown property sale represents a major step forward in the municipality’s long-term vision to create a more vibrant, sustainable, and economically resilient heart for the community.

The selection of the developer followed a rigorous Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) process. According to an official statement from the township, a “preferred proponent” has been identified whose conceptual vision closely aligns with the community’s established goals for growth and sustainability. While the township has chosen not to disclose the identity of the developer just yet, they emphasized that the proposed plan integrates seamlessly with the existing character of Uxbridge while introducing modern elements to the Lower Brock district.

A central component of this downtown property sale is the inclusion of a dedicated Town Square. This public space is intended to serve as a focal point for community gatherings, events, and daily social interaction, ensuring that the redevelopment serves the public interest as much as it does the local economy. To facilitate this massive undertaking, council passed By-Law 2026-037, which authorizes the legal conveyance of specific lands, allowing the conditional agreement to move into its next phase of planning and due diligence.

Recognizing the importance of transparency and community input, the Township of Uxbridge has scheduled a public open house to share the finer details of the plan. This event will provide residents with an opportunity to look behind the curtain of the downtown property sale and see what the future of their town might look like. The township intends to introduce the development team and present preliminary visual renderings that outline the architectural style and key features of the proposed buildings and public spaces.

The public open house is set for Thursday, April 30, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, located at 75 Marietta Drive. Local stakeholders and residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and provide feedback on the redevelopment of Lower Brock. This project is seen as a cornerstone for future investment in the region, aimed at boosting local tourism and supporting small businesses in the immediate vicinity.

As the conditional sale moves forward, the township remains committed to ensuring the final project reflects the unique heritage of the area while meeting modern environmental and infrastructure standards. This downtown property sale marks the beginning of a transformative era for Uxbridge, promising a refreshed urban landscape that honors its past while looking toward a prosperous future. Further updates regarding the developer’s identity and specific construction timelines are expected to follow the conclusion of the public consultation period later this month.
