An Uxbridge off-leash trail has been approved for Brookdale Tract, but the Township says several site improvements must be completed before dogs and their owners can use it.
Uxbridge council approved the off-leash optional trail on September 15. The property is at 717 Brookdale Road and is already part of the local trail system.
Trail will remain open to other visitors
The Township described the plan as an off-leash optional trail rather than a dog-only park. People without dogs will continue to be welcome at the property, while dog owners will have a dedicated opportunity to explore with their pets off leash.
That shared use makes the planned fencing, signs and trail layout important. Visitors should continue following the property’s current rules until the Township announces that the new arrangement is open.
Parking, fencing and a new connection are required
Work identified before opening includes a new trail connection, a parking lot, fencing and appropriate signage. The municipal announcement did not provide an opening date, project cost or construction schedule.
Residents should not assume the trail is available for off-leash use yet. The Township says more details will be released as the work advances.
The Uxbridge off-leash trail will add another recreational option for local dog owners once the required improvements are finished. The announcement does not change the rules at other municipal trails or parks.
