Two individuals have pleaded guilty in connection with the death of Jason John Brown, who was abducted from a cemetery in Harriston, Ontario, on March 12, 2019, and later found deceased near Stevenson Road in Oshawa, almost 200 kilometres away.
Five people were charged in relation to the case. Joshua Drummond pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received an eight-year sentence, while Jessica Martin admitted to being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter.
The court heard that Brown, who had a significant drug habit and past connections to the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, was beaten, restrained with duct tape, and transported to a gang clubhouse in Toronto, where he died either during the journey or upon arrival.
Steven Walsom-Gerigs and Travis Willard Wand also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges connected to Brown and another individual present at the cemetery. Walsom-Gerigs has been in custody since 2023 and received additional sentencing, while Wand, arrested in 2024, was sentenced to 11 extra months, with the remainder to be served at a rehabilitation-focused facility.
Brown’s family expressed that the guilty pleas provided little comfort, highlighting the ongoing struggle for closure during the holiday season. The case against Matthew Drummond continues in court.
