The event will provide visitors with the chance to tour the campus, explore academic programs, meet faculty members, and learn more about financial supports available to students.

The open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trent Durham campus located at 55 Thornton Road South in Oshawa.

Dr. Scott Henderson, Vice-President of Trent University Durham GTA, said the event is designed to give students and their families a full understanding of what the university experience looks like beyond academics.

“Students are looking at all of the elements of their education, beyond just their academic program,” Henderson said. “We know that students and their families are asking many questions about scholarships, residence, career opportunities and campus life.”

According to Henderson, speaking directly with faculty members, current students, and university staff can help visitors better understand the opportunities available to them at Trent Durham.

Trent University has consistently ranked among Canada’s top undergraduate universities for scholarships, maintaining a strong reputation for student financial support for more than 25 years.

The university offers a range of scholarship opportunities for incoming students. High school graduates entering university with 95 percent or higher academic averages may qualify for enhanced scholarship packages that can cover full first-year tuition.

Students with 80 percent averages or higher are also eligible for guaranteed entrance scholarships, which are automatically awarded when admission requirements are met.

Some scholarship packages available to domestic students can reach up to $30,000 over four years, helping reduce the cost of post-secondary education.

During the Spring Open House, visitors will have several opportunities to learn about these financial supports. A Scholarships and Financial Aid information table will be available at the student services fair, and dedicated information sessions will provide details on available funding programs.

The event will also feature an Academic and Student Services Fair, where guests can speak with professors and students about academic programs, specializations, and experiential learning opportunities such as co-op placements and hands-on career training.

Information sessions will be offered throughout the event to help students learn more about specific programs and student support services available on campus.

Prospective students will also have the chance to apply to Trent Durham on the spot, with the university waiving the usual application fee during the open house.

Another major attraction will be the campus and residence tours. Visitors who take part in a tour will be entered into a draw for a chance to win free residence and a meal plan for one year.

University officials say the open house offers a valuable opportunity for future students to explore the Oshawa campus, ask questions, and gain insight into student life at Trent Durham.

Those interested in attending can learn more about the event through the university’s Spring Open House information page.
