Residents in Durham Region will have the opportunity to explore local history and celebrate International Women’s Day during a special Tea & Talk : Women of Oshawa event hosted by the Oshawa Museum.

The event will take place on March 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Oshawa Museum located at 1450 Simcoe Street South in Lakeview Park. The gathering is part of the museum’s ongoing Tea & Talk series, which combines historical discussions with a relaxed social setting.

During the event, museum staff will guide participants through engaging conversations highlighting remarkable women who played important roles in Oshawa’s history. The session aims to shine a light on the achievements, challenges, and contributions of women who helped shape the community over the years.

The Tea & Talk: Women of Oshawa event is being held in recognition of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated annually on March 8 to honour the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world.

Organizers say the discussion will explore stories of local women whose efforts influenced areas such as community leadership, social change, and cultural development in Oshawa.

Participants attending the event will also be able to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea experience, which includes unlimited tea and a freshly served scone with jam and cream.

The relaxed format allows attendees to enjoy refreshments while learning about local history and connecting with others who share an interest in Oshawa’s heritage.

Tickets for the event are $15 per person, while members of the Oshawa Historical Society can attend for $10, plus applicable fees.

Due to the popularity of previous Tea & Talk sessions, organizers warn that tickets tend to sell out quickly, and interested participants are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance.

The Tea & Talk series hosted by the Oshawa Museum is known for bringing together community members in an educational and welcoming environment where local history is shared in an accessible way.

The Oshawa Museum, located in Lakeview Park along the city’s waterfront, plays an important role in preserving and sharing the history of Oshawa through exhibits, public programs, and community events.

Events such as Tea & Talk: Women of Oshawa provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn about the people and stories that helped shape the city.

Those interested in attending the event can purchase tickets online through the Oshawa Museum event page.

For more information, residents can contact the Oshawa Museum at 905-436-7624 or visit the museum’s website.
