Durham Regional Police are searching for several suspects following a stabbing outside a movie theatre in Whitby late Saturday night.
Officers responded to a call involving an armed person at approximately 10:40 p.m. at Landmark Cinemas in the Whitby Entertainment Centrum. Police say a man was stabbed while walking through the plaza area in front of the theatre.
The victim left the scene before contacting police and was later transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the suspects fled the area immediately following the assault.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on January 3, and who may have cellphone video, dash-cam footage, surveillance recordings, or information, to contact Detective Constable Franzin of the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1805.
