A woman is fighting for her life in a Toronto trauma center following a severe Pickering pedestrian collision that occurred on Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 1:25 p.m. on April 22, 2026, Durham Regional Police were dispatched to the intersection of Brock Road and Dellbrook Avenue after receiving multiple emergency calls regarding a person struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, first responders located a female pedestrian who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked to stabilize the victim on-scene before she was rushed to a specialized trauma unit. As of Wednesday evening, her condition remained critical, and her identity has not yet been publicly released pending notification of her next of kin.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), the incident involved a Nissan SUV that was traveling northbound on Brock Road. For reasons that are still being determined, the vehicle collided with the woman as she was in the roadway. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the responding officers. Fortunately, the driver did not report any physical injuries, though the vehicle sustained visible front-end damage from the force of the impact. This Pickering pedestrian collision triggered an immediate and extensive response from the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit, which oversaw the site for the remainder of the day.

The intersection of Brock Road and Dellbrook Avenue—a vital transit corridor for residents in both Pickering and Ajax—was shuttered for several hours to allow forensic teams to document the scene. Investigators utilized advanced reconstruction technology to determine the speed of the vehicle and the point of impact. While the roadway has since been reopened to traffic, the investigation into the Pickering pedestrian collision remains very active. Police are exploring all potential factors, including road conditions, driver visibility, and whether any mechanical failures contributed to the tragedy. No charges have been laid at this time, though the investigation will continue until all forensic evidence is processed.

Authorities are now turning to the public for assistance in piecing together the timeline leading up to the crash. D/Cst. Emily Vander Duim of the Collision Investigation Unit is specifically requesting that anyone with cellphone, dashcam, or residential surveillance footage of the area contact the police immediately. Even a small fragment of video from a passing motorist could prove essential in determining why the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the collision. Those who may have witnessed the Nissan SUV’s driving behavior prior to reaching Dellbrook Avenue are also encouraged to provide a statement to help resolve this Pickering pedestrian collision inquiry.

If you have information regarding this incident, you can reach the Collision Investigation Unit at 905-579-1520, extension 5226. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through their website. Information provided to Crime Stoppers is entirely confidential, and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to a significant breakthrough in the case. As the community waits for an update on the victim’s recovery, this incident serves as a sobering reminder of the need for heightened vigilance at high-traffic intersections across the Durham Region.
