An Oshawa youth and a 19-year-old Sudbury man have been charged in connection with a 2025 shooting in Brampton that sent an adult man to hospital.
Peel Regional Police say officers responded to the area of Dawnridge Trail and Clifton Court at approximately 10:40 p.m. on October 19, 2025. They found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Two arrests made in August
Investigators arrested two people in August 2026. Police identified one accused as Lavontae Bowleg, 19, of Sudbury. The second is an Oshawa male who was 17 at the time of the alleged offence.
The Youth Criminal Justice Act generally prohibits publication of information that identifies a young person charged with an offence. For that reason, the Oshawa accused is not named.
Attempted-murder and firearm charges
Each accused faces charges of aggravated assault, attempted murder using a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, conspiracy to commit murder and discharging a firearm with intent.
Police also listed unauthorized-firearm possession, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of property obtained by crime and related weapon offences among the charges.
Both accused were held in custody pending bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice. None of the allegations has been proven in court.
Investigation remains open
Peel police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators with the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 2233. Anonymous tips may be provided through Peel Crime Stoppers.
The incident took place outside Durham Region, but the case has a direct Oshawa connection because one of the accused is a local youth. Court proceedings will determine the evidence and outcome.
