The Oshawa Saturday forecast calls for mainly sunny skies and a high of 18 C as the Thanksgiving weekend begins with mild conditions.
Environment Canada issued the local forecast at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Southeast winds are expected to develop Saturday afternoon at about 20 km/h, with a moderate UV index of 4.
Clear conditions follow a cool night
At 1 a.m. Saturday, the Oshawa Executive Airport was reporting clear skies and 7.3 C. The overnight forecast had called for a low of 2 C with patchy frost in some locations.
Saturday’s high of 18 C is about four degrees above the normal maximum of 14 C listed for this time of year. Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m. EDT and sunset is at 6:41 p.m. EDT.
No Durham-specific severe-weather warning accompanied the 1 a.m. forecast. Residents should still check current alerts before outdoor plans because forecasts and local conditions can change.
Clouds and rain chances return Sunday
Saturday night is expected to start partly cloudy before becoming cloudy after midnight, with a low of 11 C.
Sunday is forecast to remain mild with a high of 18 C, but Environment Canada lists a 70 per cent chance of rain. The Sunday night forecast carries a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 12 C.
Thanksgiving Monday is expected to be cloudy and warmer, reaching 21 C. A 40 per cent chance of showers is listed for Monday night.
The Oshawa Saturday forecast is separate from the October 9 frost advisory, which covered the preceding overnight period. Saturday daytime conditions are expected to warm quickly under mainly sunny skies.
