The Oshawa pool renamed at Oshawa’s Delpark Homes Centre has received a new name following two sponsorship agreements between the City of Oshawa and Oshawa Community Credit Union.
The local credit union has committed a combined $145,000 to support the city’s aquatic facility and free summer recreation programming.
Under a five-year naming-rights agreement valued at $100,000, the pool is now officially known as the OCCU, Oshawa Community Credit Union Pool.
The agreement gives the credit union recognition throughout the aquatic area and Delpark Homes Centre, including pool decals, arena advertising and other signs. It also includes an annual free community swim.
The new pool name was celebrated during a free swim held July 4. Oshawa council members, OCCU representatives and residents attended the event to mark the partnership.
OCCU has also signed a three-year agreement worth $45,000 to become the presenting sponsor of Oshawa’s Playground Program.
The free summer program brings supervised activities to neighbourhood parks across Oshawa. Children can participate in games, crafts, sports and other group activities led by trained play leaders.
The 2026 program runs from July 6 to Aug. 21 and is being offered at 16 locations throughout the summer. Advance registration is required for participating children.
Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter thanked the credit union for investing in local recreation opportunities.
“These valued partnerships reflect a shared commitment to investing in an active, connected and healthy community,” Carter said in the city’s announcement.
OCCU representative Jakob Henninger said the credit union was proud to invest in the well-being and future of local community members.
Delpark Homes Centre, located at 1661 Harmony Road North, includes a leisure pool, four NHL-sized ice surfaces, a gymnasium, fitness facilities and an indoor walking track. The building also contains an Oshawa Public Libraries branch and an Oshawa Senior Community Centres location.
Oshawa Community Credit Union was established in 1939 and provides personal and business financial services. As a financial co-operative, its members are also owners, and profits may be reinvested in services or returned to members through dividends, bonus interest and loan rebates.
The two sponsorships were completed through the City of Oshawa’s sponsorship and advertising program.
