A 19-year-old Oshawa man is facing two assault charges after two GO Transit employees were allegedly attacked during a late-night confrontation at Oshawa GO Station.
Durham Regional Police said officers responded to the station, located at 915 Bloor Street West in Oshawa, at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 9.
According to police, GO Transit personnel had approached a man on the station property and directed him to leave the area. Investigators allege that the man refused to comply with the request and became involved in an altercation with two employees.
Police said the man allegedly assaulted both GO Transit employees before fleeing from the station property.
Officers began searching the surrounding area shortly after arriving at the scene. Members of the Durham Regional Police K9 Unit and the Air1 helicopter team were called in to assist with locating the suspect.
During the search, the suspect was reportedly found hiding in an area of dense brush and tall grass near the station. Police said he was arrested a short time later and taken into custody without any further incident.
The two GO Transit employees suffered minor injuries as a result of the alleged confrontation. Police did not provide additional details about the nature of their injuries or whether they required hospital treatment.
The 19-year-old Oshawa resident has been charged with two counts of assault. Following his arrest, he was released on an undertaking and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Durham police are continuing to seek information from members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or recorded activity in the area around the time of the alleged assaults.

Police have not released the name of the accused.
The allegations against the Oshawa man have not been proven in court, and he is considered innocent unless found guilty.
