A $55 million Lotto Max winning ticket was sold in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell in eastern Ontario, just over a week after an $80 million jackpot was won in London, Ont., according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti described the consecutive wins as remarkable, calling them “two life-changing wins in a row for Ontario Lotto Max players.”
In addition to the jackpot, thousands of other prizes were won across the province in Friday night’s draw. Among them was an Encore prize worth $100,000 sold in Ajax, bringing some of the excitement to Durham Region.
Since the launch of Lotto Max in 2009, Ontario players have won more than $9.5 billion, including 119 jackpot wins and 993 Maxmillions prizes.
Lotto Max tickets cost $5 per play, with draws held every Tuesday and Friday.
