UXBRIDGE — Families, friends, and literature enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the life and works of Lucy Maud Montgomery during Kin & Kindred Spirits Day at the Historic Leaskdale Church in Uxbridge.
The community event will take place on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 11850 Durham Regional Road 1, where visitors can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities inspired by the beloved author of Anne of Green Gables.
Hosted by the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario, the event is designed to provide an interactive experience for guests of all ages while highlighting the literary and historical significance of Leaskdale, where Montgomery lived and served as the minister’s wife for more than a decade.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in both indoor and outdoor games, themed scavenger hunts, and a range of creative craft activities. Visitors can also dress up in period-inspired costumes and capture memorable photographs with characters portraying Anne Shirley and Lucy Maud Montgomery, creating a unique experience for families and fans of the classic novels.
One of the event’s featured attractions will be a live reading of selected scenes from Anne of Green Gables, performed by an on-site interpreter portraying Lucy Maud Montgomery. The reading aims to bring the celebrated novel to life while giving visitors a deeper appreciation of the author’s enduring literary legacy.
Admission to Kin & Kindred Spirits Day is available by donation, making the event accessible to the entire community.
